Ak Gıda collected garbage in six cities on World Cleanliness Day

Ak Gıda participated in the global environmental cleaning movement, which was held simultaneously all over the world on September 18, World Cleanliness Day, with its volunteer employees and their families. Ak Gıda volunteers supported the environmental movement by collecting garbage in six provinces across Turkey.

World Clean Up Day is one of the world’s largest civil society movements, led by the Let’s Do It Foundation, with millions of volunteers from 180 countries collecting garbage at the same time to raise awareness about environmental pollution. In the environmental movement led by Let’s Do It Turkey, Ak Gıda volunteer employees and their families collected garbage in Istanbul, where Ak Gıda’s headquarters is located, and in Izmir, Sakarya, Kahramanmaraş, Karaman and Tekirdağ, where Ak Gıda’s production facilities are located.

Touching on some of Ak Gıda’s waste management activities within the scope of its sustainability efforts, Ali Sözen, CEO of Ak Gıda, said: “At Ak Gıda, we aim to add value not only to the economy but also to society and the environment. For a sustainable future, we direct our investments by choosing environmentally friendly business solutions that will reduce our environmental impact and carbon footprint in our main processes such as production, logistics, distribution and sales within our business model. As part of our waste management efforts, the office areas of all our production facilities received zero waste certification. We are working on projects to reduce food and household waste in our production facilities. We generate renewable energy from waste at our Biogas plant in Sakarya. We carry our sensitivity to environmental cleanliness not only to our business processes but also to our volunteering activities by reflecting it on our lifestyle with our employees. As Ak Gıda, we have effectively participated in this environmental movement with our consumer brand İçim to raise awareness about the global waste problem. I congratulate our volunteer colleagues and their families for their environmental sensitivity and the support they have given by participating in this global cleaning movement.”
